János Malina (1948) studied musicology at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. He is among the leading Hungarian musicologists specializing in early music. His many-sided activities include researches into the history of Baroque vocal music, performing as a recorder player, editing music, translating books on music, organizing a Haydn festival, teaching, doing musical journalism and researching performing material for Affetti Musicali Budapest in libraries throughout Europe. He is an experted discoverer of the hidden values of the chamber music of the 17th and 18th centuries. He prepared performing editions of the forgotten works ot such fine composers as Carissimi, Pachelbel, Alessandro Scarlatti, Charpentier or Benedetto Marcello.
